  • In the fifties, the shipping company HM Gehrkens had several motor ships built for the North and Baltic Seas. These ships were also jokingly referred to as mosquito squadrons. The smallest ship was built in 1957 at the DW Kremer Sohn shipyard in Elmshorn. Like all other ships, it was given a Hamburg street name. On the maiden voyage, the PLAN had a collision and sank. The ship was raised and put back into motion. Until 1965, the coaster sailed for the same shipping company.
